Post by bumblebee Mon 11 Feb 2008, 6:21 am

anyone a big fan of valentines day?

being single, i usually let it slide on by but sometimes it makes me stop and think about the negative aspects of being single and i think im already pausing in the lead up to this valentines day about the negative aspects of being single.

sometimes weddings and engagements do the same thing to me.. what am i missing out on? why have i missed out on all this stuff? will there ever be that someone special for me? loneliness/aloneness? etc etc etc

the joys of being single!

Heya Jeremy,

umm...Valentines day when you're single...quite frankly sucks. I really can't see anything in it for singles really...and that makes me puke.

I also can't see God granting me my lady friend anytime soon since I have so much more maturing to do and won't get out of my own way.

So, in light of that, I propose a Valentines tradition for singles. A night out with the single fellas and chickies of St Marys and whoever else wants to come...to celebrate the joys of being single, to give us something to look forward to (instead of puking).

Now, that leaves you and me Jeremy, and Timmy J and ummm...Al Rabbidge and yes, whomever else.

Actually, the more I think about this...the more I like this idea! What do you reckon Jeremy? Reckon we could all get together this Thursday? Jeremy, if you're keen, spread the word. We could maybe meet up at Timmy J's place, or mine. Get some pizza and some blokie movies (unless some chickies turn up)! We will begin a new tradition called Valentinos day!

you might want to talk to Timmy J about that, but I think it is an excellent idea. We are heading out to a church thing on the Wednesday which is all about being loving toward your Xn brother and sister.

it was a great time! 5 guys turned up to the 1st annual single guys valentines day get together (we havent come up with a good name yet!). trent was there, so was trent, as was tim j, big al and phil. little chris couldnt make it cause he was at tennis!

we have pizza and some more pizza and pigged out and talked and talked (yes, guys can communicate and talk!) and had a great night (well i did!). all talk regarding love, marriage, valentines day and such similiar topics was banned.

we were going to watch a dvd but didnt get round to it cause we talked too much! and we struggled to find a movie that had no love/romance etc scenes or sub plots going through it.

i hope we can do it again next year!

I'm really glad you had a good time Jeremy. I was a little worried before hand that it would be a kind of boring night at my place but seeing as everyone left at about 11.00pm, I'll assume that everyone enjoyed themselves.

I think it was a blessing to all of us. The conversation was free flowing, there were plenty of laughs...we were all comfortable and it was an opportunity for all of us just to get to know each other a little bit better...and to just share some life together. It was really nice. I was stoked that everyone came at really short notice. I was also very excited that most of us seemed already to be thinking about next years event.

Although deep down inside, I'd really love it if it were just me on my own next year because God had blessed you all with lady friends over the next 12 months!!!

Bless youse all!

it would be great if next years event couldnt go ahead because of a lack of single guys!!! if that were to happen, maybe we should get together the day after valentines day to see how we went on valentines day and also see how we were going as godly guys with our gorgeous girls.

trent thanks for your hospitality- helped make a great night!

and it was great to see the handsome black guy in attendance!
